Wanderlust Wednesday: Kent and Washington, CT.

In October, when the weather here in the Northeast was still nice enough to sit outside at a restaurant, I took a day trip to Litchfield County. Kent was my first stop, a charming, historical town known for its antique stores and art galleries. One of my favorites is a store called RT Facts which has a fantastic array of treasures and curiosities.

Then we went to Washington and stopped for lunch at the Mayflower Hotel, an iconic CT hotel dating back to the 1800s. The lobby, restaurant and main areas are all beautifully designed by Celerie Kemble.

I love how she uses layering elements that make one feel as if they're at home.

Her use of colors from the delightful mural in the restaurant to the yellow living room is such a treat for the senses.

Although not far from where I live, it felt as though I'd been transported to another country, if only for a few hours!
